One of my grandmothers was a closed book and I found out more about her the day of her funeral than I did the 24 years we had together. I wish she had felt more free to share about her life because I would have liked to hear her story from her perspective. Unfortunately so much of my grandmother’s life , particularly as a young woman, devastated her so much that she’s hardly willing to talk about it and when she does she usually starts crying which hurts so much to watch. Natalie Jeffrey it is the same with one of my grandmothers. She will not speak of it, it causes her pain.
